Sony Masterworks is thrilled to announce the release of The Voice of Bach, the RCA Red Seal debut from Canadian counter tenor, Daniel Taylor. This welcome recording showcases some of the most famous and best-loved examples of J.S. Bach's superlative writing for the human voice and features Taylor in striking versions of Bach's oratorio arias and cantatas including 'Es ist vollbracht' from St. John's Passion, 'Erbarme Dich' from the St. Matthew's Passion and 'Christ lag in Todesbanden' from Cantata BWV 4.

Soprano Agnes Zigovics joins Taylor in duets 'Wir eilen mit Schwachen' from 'Jesu, der du meine Seele' BWV 78 and 'Du wahrer Gott und Davids Sohn' from Cantata BWV 23.  Accompanying Daniel Taylor in the choruses and symphonic interludes on this CD is the Theatre of Early Music, a Canadian-based period-instrument ensemble and professional choir of which Taylor is founder and artistic director.

Daniel Taylor works with an ever-widening circle of the world's leading early and contemporary music experts including Ton Koopman, Paul McCreesh, Sir Jonathan Miller, Trevor Pinnock and Helmut Rilling.  On 15th January 2009 he will be appearing at Birmingham Town Hall as Hamor in Nicholas McGegan's production of Handel's Jephta.

An exclusive recording artist for SONY CLASSICAL/MASTERWORKS, Daniel Taylor is one of the most sought-after countertenors in the world.

Daniel Taylor's debut at Glyndebourne in Handel's Theodora (recorded for ERATO) followed his operatic debut in Jonathan Miller's UK production of Handel's Rodelinda (EMI). Her has made more than 80 recordings, which include Bach Cantatas with the Monteverdi Choir and John Eliot Gardiner for DG ARCHIV, Renaissance Duets with James Bowman and actor Ralph Fiennes (BIS),the Gramophone Award winning Handel's Rinaldo with Cecilia Bartoli, The Academy of Ancient Music and Christopher Hogwood (DECCA), Cantatas "Before Bach" with Collegium Vocale and Philippe Herreweghe (Harmonia Mundi), Buxtehude with the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra and Ton Koopman (Channel), Sakamoto's pop-opera Life with the Dalai Lama and Salmon Rushdie (Sony Japan), Bach Cantatas with the Bethlehem Bach Choir and Greg Fumfgeld (DORIAN) and Bach Cantatas with the Bach Collegium Japan (BIS). Daniel receives invitations from an ever-widening circle of the world's leading early and contemporary music ensembles, appearing in opera (Metropolitan Opera, Glyndebourne, San Francisco, Rome, Welsh National Opera, Candian Opera, Opera North and the Bayerische Staatsoper), oratorio (Gabrieli Consort, Philharmonia Baroque, Bach Collegium Japan, King's Consort, Monteverdi Choir, English Baroque Soloists, Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, Les Arts Florissants, Berlin Academie für Alte Musik, Collegium vacale de Ghent, Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, King's Consort, Academy of Ancient Music), symphonic works (Cleveland, Lisbon, St. Louis, Philadelphia, Gothenburg, Toronto, Rotterdam, Montreal) and recital (Vienna Konzerthaus, New York's Frick Collection, Beijing's Forbidden Concert Hall, Lufthansa Baroque Festival and London's Wigmore Hall). His film work includes the soundtrack to Jeremy Podeswa's Five Senses, which won a Genie (Canada's Oscar) and at Cannes. Daniel's 2009 season includes debuts with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic, Madrid Orchestra, NDR Hamburg, NDR Hannover and with the New York Philharmonic. 2009 also finds Daniel's return to the San Francisco Symphony, St. Louis Orchestra, National Arts Centre, Calgary Philharmonic and in recital at London's Wigmore Hall.

Daniel is now Professor of Voice at the University of Ottawa, on the Guest Faculty at the Banff Centre for the Fine Arts, Visiting Artist at the University of Toronto and Adjunct Professor at McGill University. Daniel is Artistic Director of the Music Festival at St. Sauveur and is Founder and Artistic Director of the Theatre of Early Music, a Choir and period-instrument ensemble based in Canada, comprised of musicians from all over the world. This season, with the Theatre of Early Music, Daniel will tour South American including performances in Brazil, Peru and Argentina. The TEM Choir will debut in the UK, and will tour Canada and The United States in more than 25 concerts this season.
